Hi there! Hope you're having a great start to 2023. I’m knee-deep in the production for my next album, and I’d like to share my plans with you.
While working on my debut LP These Octagonal Eyes in 2021, I came up with a fun idea for a song about the idea of a painting so realistic that it literally transports you to the world it depicts. I knew it would be written about a specific painting, so I searched for a while until I found a particular one that spoke to me…
Pont Neuf! What is it? [Qu’est-ce que c’est?]
A bridge in Paris, France
An impressionist painting of that bridge by Pierre-Auguste Renoir
A song about that painting of the bridge
An album with that song about the painting of the bridge
Pont Neuf, by Pierre-Auguste Renoir
So yeah, Pont Neuf is a lot of things, and this project aims to make it two more things. Haha.
Excited about this idea, I started writing more and more songs on the piano. Throughout 2021 and 2022 I’ve been crafting and selecting songs for this project. Many of these songs are personal and highlight my struggles with depression. I’ve joked about this record being a ‘trojan horse of sad songs’, and there’s some truth to that. It’s a very intimate collection of songs with an over-arching theme of weather and nature. I am very proud of the songs that have come from this project, and I hope you enjoy them as well!
I’ve started a kickstarter page to fund a vinyl run for the album, as well as a budget for promotion, marketing, screen printing merch, and potentially a music video or two. I wholeheartedly appreciate any support you’re able to contribute.
